In honor of School Board Recognition month, we would like to recognize the dedicated individuals who tirelessly serve our community as board members. Elaine Stone is Vice President of the Lewistown CUSD #97 Board of Education and has served on the board for 9 years. A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Agriculture, and a native of Litchfield, IL Elaine has lived in Lewistown since 1992. She is married to Jeff Stone, a parent of Justin (Cassie) and Tysin Stone, and grandparent to Cameron and Regan Stone. Elaine is the Executive Director of the Fulton County Farm Bureau. She currently serves the community as secretary of the Spoon River Partnership for Economic Development, and secretary of the Fulton County 911 Board. Elaine serves as Trustee for the Fulton County Housing Authority and is a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church. In her spare time Elaine enjoys camping and horseback riding. Thank you for your dedication and service to the students, staff, and community of Lewistown Schools.

This is a reminder that Lewistown Schools will dismiss early on Friday, January 30th for school improvement planning and staff training. All high school students and early bus riders will dismiss at 11:15am, Central/Elementary walking and pick-up students will be dismissed at 11:20am, and the Central/Elementary buses will dismiss at 11:30am.

The HS GBB team played Brimfield on Thursday night. They came away with a 56-23 victory which pushed their record to 11-10 overall and 3-0 in the Prairieland North Conference. The team is back in action tonight against Illini West in Lewistown. Stats from Brimfield follow-

Athletic Schedule Updates-

Tonight's high school boys basketball game at Brimfield is postponed until Saturday, January 31 at 4:00pm in Brimfield.

Tomorrow's high school girls varsity game with Galva is canceled. The JV girls basketball game with PORTA is still on for 10:00am.

Weekly Update-

Our JH VB teams are off to a great start this year. The 7th grade is 4-0 while the 8th grade is 3-1. Stats from there last two games are attached.

The 5th grade VB team took home 3rd place at the St. Paul Tournament last weekend. Their photo is attached. The 6th grade plays at St. Paul this weekend.

The HS GBB team fell to #2 ranked Brown County last night. Their stats are attached as well.

On Friday, January 30, we invite our school community to wear camo in honor of our custodian, Dave.

Dave was an avid hunter who loved sharing his passion with our students. From telling hunting stories to kids, to always being willing to teach duck call classes during our annual Central Academy.

To celebrate his life, we encourage students and staff to wear camo and, if you have them, bring along game calls as a special tribute.

We will also hold a special assembly honoring Dave during the Central School Powwow on January 30 at 10:30 a.m.

Students with disabilities from three through twenty-one years of age who reside in this area generate federal support for special education programs. In order to receive these funds, federal and state regulations require that an annual needs assessment be completed.

There was a lot of action on the hardwood last night. The 5th grade boys team won their game over Kickapoo St. Mary's. The 7th grade boys beat Havana while the 8th grade boys lost to Havana. The HS GBB team traveled to Mendon where they took a 43-38 loss. HS GBB stats follow-
