Welcome back Lewistown CUSD 97 students and families! Attached you will find our updated 2026-2027 school calendar. Please note the first day of student attendance is Monday, August 17. The first week of school (August 17-21) will be 2:00 dismissals. We would also like to invite students and families to attend our district-wide Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, August 13 from 6:00-7:00pm. Please bring school supplies while meeting our school staff members and touring our schools. REMINDER: IF YOU HAVEN'T REGISTERED YOUR STUDENT, PLEASE DO SO ASAP.
💊 Medication form Reminders
Under Illinois law, medication should only be given at school when it is necessary during the school day. Whenever possible, medications should be given at home before school or after school.
Before any prescription or over-the-counter medication can be administered at school, the required medication authorization forms must be completed and signed by doctor and parent/guardian. This is for both prescription and non-perscription Medication. You can pick up a copy of the medication authorization form from our school secretary or download it from the school website. The school will not provide any over the counter stock medications. Any medication must be provided in its original labeled container with students name and medication name and dose.

LVC JH (7th & 8th) baseball will kick off its inaugural season today (Mon 3rd) with their 1st practice 3:30-5:30 @ Cuba HS...Ltown bus 3:15, Valley bus 3. Good luck this year & Go Miners!

Color guard members needed! If you are interesting in joining flags, please come to band camp next week to learn how to spin a flag and basic marching steps. Commitment through the year is August-October every Wednesday night from 7-8:30pm and 1-2 flags only practices scheduled around member's other activities. Performances are during home football games and 1-2 competitions/parades on a Saturday. Message Mrs. Reed if interested in joining or if you have questions.
Indians Ohana Cafe is on the schedule at Canton Helping Hands for 8/4 through 8/8. Canton Helping Hands Resale Shoppe is located in Canton, IL at 105 N. 1st Ave. Part of the sales from next week will go to our Ohana Cafe which is ran by our functional special education classroom at the junior high/high school. The Ohana Cafe helps our students learn important life skills such as shopping, budgeting, meal prep, household chores, and more!

We are now taking appointments for fall preschool screening. Please call or text Madison (pre-k parent coordinator) to make an appointment. If your child was screened in the spring or has already been in a Lewistown PK/EC program, they will not need to be rescreened. A screening must take place in order to be in the PK/EC program.
